Shijiazhuang is located in Hebei Province. It is the provincial
capital. Also it is one of the most important hubs of the railway
and the chief base of the textile industry. It is 3.3 thousand square
kilometers in area. The population is 2.9 million.
In the west of Shijiazhuang is the hilly country of Taihang Mountain.
This part occupied forty percent of the area. In the east, is Hutuo
River Plain. The part occupied sixty percent. Shijiazhuang has a monsoon
climate of semi-moist in warm temperate zone. The annual average temperature
is 12.9 degree Celsius. The annual precipitation is 550mm. And the
Blackfrost period can last 220 days. The west mountain area, abounds
in mineral resources. Mainly, there are coal, iron, lime, marble,
spar and asbestos.
Light industries are is major industries. Textile, chemical industry
and engineering industry are the three important ones. In China, the
output of cotton and cotton yarn are in the first place. Pharmacy
and petroleum process are the most important parts in chemical industry.
The medicine output value also is one of the bases of supplying high
quality cooking coal refining. In agriculture, there is wheat, corn,
cotton, meat and fruits. The railway and the highway system here are
both well developed.
Cangyan Mountain is one of the places of interest in China. And there
are some other famous places too. Such as Fuqing Temple, Zhengding
ancient city, Longxing Temple, Hua Tower and so on. Here, the traditional
specialties are braised chicken and Fenzhou cooking wine.

On the route between Beijing and the prosperous eastern seaboard
provinces, Shijiazhuang has numerous transport systems connecting
it to all over China. This is rather ironic considering most people
come here, simply to reach the sights out of town.
Airport
Flights connect Shijiazhuang with more than a dozen cities in China,
and to a few cities in Russia.
Railway
station
Shijiazhuang has a fairly comprehensive railway network, with 13
rail lines connecting to various parts of China through the city's
two railway stations. The most commonly used destinations include
Beijing (2.5hrs), Zhengzhou (4hrs), Handan (2hrs), Qinhuangdao (10hrs),
Tianjin (5hrs), Taiyuan (4hrs) and Luoyang (8hrs), although there
are services that run as far as Guangzhou (22hrs).Of the two stations,
the Main Station (Huoche zhan), on Shengli dajie, close to the intersection
with Jiefang lu, is by far the more convenient. Tickets can be bought
here, from the advance booking office at 47 Zhongshan lu, or in most
major hotels.

There is a superhighway connecting Shijiazhuang with Beijing, the
capital and the ride takes about 3 hours. There are two major long-distance
bus stations in Shijiazhuang, one is the Xiangyang Long-distance Bus
Station (Xiangyang changtu chezhan), northeast of the railway station,
the other is the Central Long-distance Bus Station (Changtu chezhan)
on Nanma lu. Most travellers will probably only use the Beijing expresses,
although there are minibuses to nearer locations. Tickets can be bought
at the stations.

There are around 50 bus lines in Shijiazhuang. Some of them will
take you to the sights outside the city. No.213 takes you from the
railway station to the Zhaozhou Bridge.
