| Situated in Jilin Province, Changchun City is the provincial capital
and important machine building base of China. Its area is 18881
square kilometers with a population of 6.46 million. ¡¡¡¡please dail 110 ¡¡¡¡As the provincial capital of Jilin, and with a location between Dalian and Harbin, Changchun is the transportation hub of the province. Most of the provincial level transportation starts from Changchun. ¡¡¡¡Flights from Changchun reach most of the important cities of China, while internationally there are flights available once a week to Vladivostok, once a week to Hong Kong and twice a week to Seoul. The airport is located 10km west of the city center at the end of Yingbin Lu. Airport shuttle buses are available on a regular basis between the airport and the railway station, stoping at the People's Square and the city center on the way. Bus No.364 also links the airport with the People's Square. A taxi ride from the city to the airport should cost no more than RMB20. Telephone 0431-8690212 for airport information. ¡¡¡¡The railway station is located at the northern end of the Renmin Dajie (People's Street), the widest and longest north-south street which splits the city in two. From anywhere within Changchun city, a taxi ride to the station should cost less than RMB15. Although the station comes third in size next to Harbin and Shenyang, there are still 80 trains arriving at or departing from Changchun daily. Direct trains reach many places including Beijing (11 hours), Shanghai (32 hours), Dalian (10 hours) and Xi'an (34 hours). The Main ticketing offices, besides the railway station itself, include the one on 7 Puji Jie, the 32 Pingquan Lu office, the 25 Hongqi Jie Office and the one on 19 Chuangye Dajie. The major bus station is opposite the railway station on 6 Renmin Lu. Most of the inter-provincial buses start from here. From the station there are regular buses to Harbin(leaving hourly) and buses to Shenyang and Beijing. In the provincial bus line, there are buses to Jilin (every 15 minutes)and almost all the important destinations of Jilin Province. Other bus stations are the South Station (36 Jiefang Lu) and the North Station (24 Changbai Lu), both with buses to nearby destinations. ¡¡¡¡Taxi fares are RMB5 for the first 2.5km, and then RMB1.3/km for additional distances.
