 Wenzhou City lies in the middle of China's coastline. Bordering on the East China Sea??and standing by the O'jiang River, it is South Zhejiang's economic, political, and cultural communication center. Under its jurisdiction there are 3 districts (Lucheng, Longwan and O'hai), 2 cities at county level (Ruian and Yueqing), and 6 counties (Yongjia, Dongtou, Pingyang, Cangnan, Wencheng and Taishun). In accordance with the statistics by the end of 1998, the population of Wenzhou is 7.18 million, among which, 1.165 million are the permanent residents of the city proper.
Wenzhou covers a total land area of 11,784 square kilometers with an annual average temperature of about 18?? and rainfall of 1800mm.The frost-free period lasts 280 days for a whole year. Thanks to fertile soil, mild climate, green hills and limpid waters, Wenzhou is renowned for its abundant products. The area is also in plenty of reserves of illite, pyrophyllite and alunite, the 3 gems of nonmetallic minerals. In particular, the storage of alunite amounts to 220 million tons, the area enjoying the name of "the World's Capital of Alunite". The East China Sea continental shelf, over 100 kilometers away from the estuary of the O'jiang River, is rich in deposit of natural gas and oil, where 16 public bidding areas spreading over 54000 square kilometers of sea waters have started to call for tenders in order to boost its prospecting and exploitation. In addition, the city enjoys exceptional advantages of tourism resources, the acreage under scenic spots accounting for 22.2% of the total??territory of the city.

Airport

Wenzhou Airport is one of the state second-class civil airport. Giant airplanes, such as " Air Bus " , "B767" and so on, can take off from and land on it . UP to date, it has opened up 57 domestic air routes to cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Harbin etc., and 2 regional air routes to Hongkong and Macao

Railway station 

The railway from Wenzhou to Jinhua, since being put into operation in 1997, has opened up many special train lines linking Wenzhou with cities of Hangzhou, Shanghai,Nanjing and Beijing etc. The annual handling capacity will be up to 10 million passengers.

Bus station

Wenzhou is highly developing in highway traffic network. The 104 and 330 State Trunk Road run through the city from both flanks, east and west. The coastal highway of top class linking Wenzhou with Ningbo has been using. The city has long-distance bus lines providing traffic convenience to various cities including Beijing, Guangzhou and Xi 'an etc.
