Most of all, Hainan is famous as a source of shells. Some lovely pieces and decorations are made using sea products. Sea water pearls are especially well known and widely available throughout the island. The best ones though, are in Sanya, although as this is the most popular tourist spot prices here can be higher than elsewhere. If you shop around away from the main tourist thoroughfares, you may pick up a bargain.
Local products such as coffee, pepper and coconut candies are widely

Hainan, Haikou has commodities for sale from all over the island. The

in North of Sanya. In Tongzha and the Highlands, the most interesting

Hainan island has a prosperous growth of pineapple. Generally, pineapple
trees can yield after 4-6 years of cultivation. They blossom in spring
every year and fruits mature between summer and autumn. The weight varies
but some can reach 20 odd kilometers. When it matures, its scent penetrates
and spreads all over the area. Its gold-like flesh is as sweet as honey,
crisp and delicious with a high content of sugar, fat and protein. The
kernel can be stewed with meat to cure women's shortage of milk after
production of babies.

seasons and autumn is the highest yielding period.
ARECA NUT belongs to the category of palm, a kind of evergreen. It
looks like coconut tree, with no branches. But it is slimmer than coconut
tree, having a flavor of slenderness. Areca nut is a precious medicine
in China and has been an effective cure to a number of diseases like
parasites in intestines and stomach illness etc. Areca-nut is also an
indispensable fruit of people of Li Nationality. Chewing areca-nut is
their traditional custom.
